UPDATED DRIVERS

The first thing to do is make sure you have the latest drivers from the manufacturer of your Primary video, 3d Accelerator, sound, and controllers.

THE ONLY WAY TO GET THE LATEST DRIVERS IS TO DOWNLOAD THEM FROM THE MANUFACTURER OF THE 3D/DISPLAY CARD (some websites are listed below)....

These downloads are free and are available on the website of the respective manufacturer.

EVEN IF YOU HAVE A NEW PC OR NEW ADD-ON CARD, IT IS STILL POSSIBLE TO HAVE OUTDATED DRIVERS!

Follow the directions (readme/help) with each driver, if possible read all readme.txt's before running the setup.exe or other install program.

If you have any trouble installing or choosing the correct driver, ask the TECHSUPPORT at the website from which you are downloading the drivers.

Be sure to restart your PC after installing drivers.

WINDOWS 98 USERS!!!!! - Please follow the same procedures as above. When win98 installs it seems to be overwriting video drivers with its own generic drivers. PLEASE download the latest drivers directly from the manufacturer. DO NOT use the original install disks or CDs, they will contain old drivers.

NO AUDIO / VIDEO STREAM ERROR

    Friday April 24th

This is a rare occurrence where you start up the game, it passes the company logos and a Windows box appears stating "No Audio Video stream found" and you can’t proceed any further.

There are 2 ways to rectify this issue:

    FIX #1

Download Intel Indeo 5 and install it, you can grab it from here . In all circumstances when this issue did happen this fixed the problem. Install Indeo iv5play.exe and run Forsaken, either one should solve the problem. If for some reason they did not work try FIX#2 it will bypass the FMV.

    FIX #2

Step 1: It is a lot easier than it looks, I just wrote out every step in detail. Go to the folder where you installed Forsaken, Default location is

    C:/program files/Acclaim Entertainment/forsaken

Step 2: Find the executable called forsaken.exe (not forsakenhw.exe or forsakensw.exe).

Step 3: Right click on forsaken.exe and create a shortcut, the shortcut selection is found towards the bottom of the list.

Step 4: After creating the shortcut, right click on the shortcut to forsaken.exe and go to the properties area of the shortcut. Select properties.

Step 4: The properties screen will appear, select the shortcut tab at the top of the screen via placing the cursor over shortcut and left click on the tab.

Step 5: Look at the area where it says Target. Take your arrow cursor and click on the area of the target after the end quote i.e.

"C:\Program Files\Acclaim Entertainment\Forsaken\Forsaken.exe" *This is the area after the end quote.

Step 6: (The following must be done exactly as it appears, text is case sensitive!!!!)

Immediately following the end quote, press spacebar so there is 1 space in-between where the quote is and what you are going to write. Type —NoAVI

You can copy and paste this quote via highlighting —NoAVI on this page then PRESSING ctrl and the letter C to copy. Then click on the proper area, 1 space after the end quote and press ctrl and the letter V.

This is what it should look like when you are done.

    "C:\Program Files\Acclaim Entertainment\Forsaken\Forsaken.exe" —NoAVI

You can copy and paste this entire stream, you must delete the old stream 1st.

Step 7: Pull the shortcut you just created to your desktop so you can select it at any time. Just double click. You are now Forsakened. NOTE: It takes a few seconds to load so be patient.

MILITARY LEVEL (CAN’T LOAD QUE) SOUND BUG "UNITED STATES VERSION ONLY"

    Friday April 24th

There is a sound bug on the military level of the game, it is not an everytime bug, if it does happen, you will get an error that says "Can't load Que" or something like that. Players can get out of this bug 99% of the time via hitting the enter key around 10 times. There is also a patch that will be released on the website. To install the Military patch, the user must do a custom install. They should then exit out of the game and go to the Forsaken directory, Default is program files. Go into the levels folder and either delete the current military or overwrite the current military level via dropping the new Military folder into the levels folder.

    Software Mode

Forsaken will not work on a 2D board in software mode if the board has less than 2 Megs of ram

S3 Issuesut an additional accelerator card installed:

"Currently Forsaken may not work with S3 Virge-based video cards in software or hardware acceleration. There are a variety of different video cards and manufactures who used this chip, including Packard Bell. Also, many older video cards that are not DirectX compliant will not run Forsaken i

If you are using an S3 video card withon software mode.

There is no patch for the Virge because this particular chip doesn't support any of the features Forsaken needs to run. In fact, S3 themselves have totally disowned themselves from the Virge series with a campaign called "Purge The Virge," due to the chip's poor performance. We can't make Forsaken perform well on a board that has poor performance, so we can't make a patch for it.

We would suggest you get another card as none of the up and coming games will support that chipset. If you are really into S3 product, the new S3 wave of 3D cards (coming out soon) are getting great reviews.

    Again, sorry for the inconvenience."

If you are using an S3 Virge based card with a 3dfx accelerator:

3dfx has released a patch which corrects a mapping problem. The download is available at http://www.3dfx.com/docs/s3_fix_kit/s3_fix_kit.html. This kit will remap a Voodoo Graphics or Voodoo2 board to a memory range that will not conflict with a video board using S3 968/868 video chips. Still, keep in mind that this chip is doggedly slow and may not work anyway.

    78% Install error

During the installation, you receive an error at about 78% completion stating-

" An error occurred during the move data process -113, Componten: Program

Files, File Group: Program Files, File D:\ForsakenHW.exe"

This problem is due to Windows not recognizing the CD-ROM as Windows device, therefore, extended file names are truncated, or shortened. The install program thinks the CD is missing files. The problem is NOT the CD, but your actual CD-ROM Drive!!! Your PC is using the DOS CD-ROM drivers, instead of the WINDOWS95 drivers. DOS only recognizes 8 letter file names ( forsaken.exe), Windows can read extended file names (Forsakenhw.exe). During the install, a file called forsakenhw.exe is copied from the CD to your Harddrive. When the cdrom looks for forsakenhw.exe(10 characters) it can't find it because the DOS CDROM drivers "truncate", or shrink the file name to "forsa~26.exe"(8 characters).

You will need to contact your CD-ROM manufacturer or your PC's Tech Support to get your CD-ROM Drive working properly in Windows."

    Green Screen Lockup

While the volcano level is loading, the bar graph freezes then locks up. Try downloading & installing iv5devl.exe. If you still have trouble be sure the read the Drivers section above.

    Render Scene Failed Error

See Drivers & DirectX sections above. 99.9% of the time this error is due to a Directx or Video driver issue.

    Spinning Bike

If your bike seems to be spinning out of control, or you are having problems configuring your joystick/keyboard buttons, follow the directions below. The situation is due to the default control settings in Forsaken, there are basically too many keys setup for each function:

    From The MAIN menu:

    Select <Setup Biker>

Select <Controls> or <Weapons> (depending on control problem)

    Select <Configure Keys and Buttons>

Move to each function and press [Delete] a few times until the funtion is "undef"

To reassign the function press [enter] and then press the key or button you want to use.
